Friday afternoon, Charlotte and I were discharged from the hospital. Jake and I were very excited to bring our little girl home.

What Have You Done During The Last Twelve Hours?
What could happen in 12 Hours?
If you wanted to, in 12 hours you could:
6:00 pm Tuesday Night-Nikki gets ready to go to the hospital for the birth of our baby girl
This is our girl right after being born. She weighed in at a healthy 7lbs 11oz and was 19 inches long.

Mommy getting to spend some well deserved time with our little sweetie!
If you wanted to, in 12 hours you could:
- drive to Massachusetts and back two times
- fly to the west coast
- watch 6 movies
- walk\run 90 miles (if you kept up a pace of 1 mile every 8 minutes)
Let's see what else can happen in 12 hours:

"Hi mommy...so this is what you look like from the outside"?
Nikki was absolutely AMAZING! I am so proud of her and how she handled herself. She is my hero! She is doing great and loving being a new mom.

"Whew...I am wiped out"!

So precious...

The older sisters and brother arrive to love on their new family member

This was an incredibly important day for Nate. This is the first time that he gets to be the BIG brother. He has been very excited about the idea of this and we have no doubt that he will be great at it.

Abby has always been fascinated with tiny things. Do you think that her smile can get any bigger?

Emma is so excited....can you tell?

All the sisters together...PRICELESS

We were so blessed to have Nana come down to PA for Charlotte's birth. She has been such a great help but, more importantly, she's a great Nana. She's already fallen in love.

All of the kids brought a special toy for Charlotte. They were all so sweet!

So...when we started out I asked a simple question..."what have you done in the last 12 hours"? I'm not sure what you've done but all I can say is...

FAMILY...THERE IS NOTHING LIKE IT!

In the last 12 hours, I have...
- witnessed one of God's most amazing miracles...the gift of life. This is the fourth time I have seen this and believe me...it never gets old. I am in awe!
- seen the woman I love display incredible patience, grace and strength to the extent that she has truly become my hero!
- taken on, once again, a role that makes me feel unqualified, humbled, proud and honored all at the same time...the role of a DAD.
- seen 3 amazing children form a bond with their sister, in a matter of minutes, that you know will last forever
- been reminded that our own parents are amazing in the way that they continue to encourage and support us even when we are adults
- seen firsthand, the skill and wisdom of God through the hands and minds of great men and women...we call them DOCTORS.
This has truly been an INCREDIBLE 12 HOURS!

A BIG Year
It's been over 6 months since my last post...oh my! I have neglected to update our blog for several different reasons (not having internet at home, busy schedule, lack of motivation, etc.). But I am going to try to give this another shot. 2011 has been a BIG year so far. Let me fill you in on some of the highlights.
In February, Jake had the opportunity to go on a business trip to Las Vegas. Las Vegas is not a destination that either of us would ever choose to go visit...but when it's an all expense paid trip from your employer, who would refuse?! He got a few days away from cold, wet Pennsylvania (just a side note: while Jake was enjoying the sites of Vegas, I was home in PA where we got a pretty bad ice storm and I spent 14 hours alone with no heat or water. You can imagine how much I was loving my husband at that moment...NOT!!) and got see some of the amazing sites and incredible buildings in Vegas. He spent a whopping $20 on slot machines and didn't win a dime (gambling is so not our thing), had a lot of fun with his co-workers, oh, yeah, and I'm sure he learned a lot from the seminars he attended too :)
This was the view from his hotel room...not too shabby!!!
Sometime in the very near future we will be welcoming a new family member!
Baby Girl Marshall is due in just 6 short days!!
So there's your update on what the past 6 months have looked like for us. It's been super busy and exciting and it looks like the busyness and excitement will be a theme for us for the rest of the summer. I'll try my best to keep you posted :)
